Being a Governor is a rewarding, enjoyable and effective way of making a voluntary contribution to your community and to the lives of local young people.
Governing Bodies are strategic leaders in schools. They work with the Headteacher to set the aims and objectives of the school, monitor progress, agree policies and lead school improvement as well as agreeing staffing structures, monitoring budgets and ensuring health and safety standards. Governors meet a minimum of twice a term and include staff at the school, parents of children in the school as well as local council and community representatives
We are seeking members of the community that have:
- An interest in our children’s future
- Time, energy and enthusiasm
- A desire to make a difference
- Readiness to accept responsibility
- An ability to work as a team
- That are happy to ask questions, listen and learn.
Please don’t be put off by thinking that you need specialist expertise or knowledge of the education system. Experience from business and other professions, along with enthusiasm and interest, is much more important and we can provide training and support to help you throughout the four years term of office. You will be supported by fellow governors with many years of combined experience.
