Summer learning opportunities

Dear Parents & Carers

Thank you to all of you who have requested an appointment for Parent’s Evening this week.  I hope that you feel well-informed on your child’s progress in school this year and that any question you may have had have been answered.  One question that was raised by several parents was: “What can we do at home over the summer to help?”

Whilst I appreciate that for many children and their families, the upcoming holiday is a chance to rest and to relax together, many of you may also wish to access extra learning opportunities over the 6-week break.

If this is the case, please see below for our suggestions of appropriate opportunities you can access either through our school resources or through the nationally accredited platform provided by the Oak National Academy.

If you would like any further guidance on how to access these resources then please contact us, and we can arrange for your class teacher to help.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs White

As a school we have purchased several online resources for the children to access in class and at home.  These include:

  • Reading Eggs/Reading Eggspress
  • Spellng Frame
  • Maths Frame
  • Oxford Owl e-book library
  • Times Tables Rockstars
  • Numbots

The children have their login details for each of these resources but if you need them sending through, please contact us at school. Click here to see these resources.

As part of the Government’s response to a Recovery Curriculum, the Oak National Academy has been commissioned to create age-related National Curriculum resources to support pupils.  Their ‘Summer Classroom’ is a range of resources, lessons and activities and can be accessed here.
