This week in class we have been learning about: In Writing, we have started our recount based on the partridge eggs hatching. In Maths, we have learnt how to create a tally chart. In History we learnt more about Sacagawea’s expedition. In RE we were visited by Mr Sugarman from the Jewish community who spoke to us about Passover, and we got to try matzah which is a flatbread that is a staple food during the Jewish holiday of Passover. We also had rugby training on Friday with Holderness Vikings!

Our Flashback 4 questions have been:

1. Today: Can you make a tally chart to show 17?

2. This/last week: Can you remember the name of the expedition Sacagawea went on?

3. Last week: Can you name some different elements of a non-chronological report?

4. Last term: What measurements would we use when discussing length or height?

Next week we will be learning about: In History we will be focusing on Michael Collin’s expedition. In Science we will continue to consolidate all our year 2 learning. In RE we will be asking the question ‘What is ‘Raksha Bandhan?’. In Maths we will continue with our new topic: statistics. In DT we will be learning about mechanisms. In Music, we will continue to learn our song alongside actions ready to perform to year 1 in a couple of weeks.

In Phonics: most of the children are now learning the Set 3 sounds (see sound mats in bookbags to support your child with their learning). Please continue to read and change their books regularly.

Book Bags: please send your child with their books on a Monday to be changed for the week. Please read the book several times until they are fluent and no longer sounding out all the words.

Please could the children bring their PE Kit on Monday and Wednesday.
