Hello.&nbsp;My name is Mr Copley. In class, we spend a lot of our time working hard on our Writing, Reading and Maths skills to help prepare for the SATs in May and to help get us ready for the transition to high school. We like to have fun in Year 6, but we also know we need to work hard and try our best in everything we do.

Hello! My name is Mr Bates and I have been teaching for nearly ten years. I am passionate about inspiring all learners and I am very interested in the more creative sides of teaching. I began teaching in Brighton before moving back to my home town of Hessle. I have taught KS2 for the majority of my career and I love that age as children are &lsquo;growing&rsquo; into who they are and have a basic understanding of humour! When I am not teaching I am lucky enough to be able to look after my two children&nbsp;and continue to follow another passion of mine &ndash; wedding photography.

	<link>https://www.keyinghamprimaryschool.co.uk/blog/?pid=100&amp;nid=11&amp;storyid=764</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p>It&#39;s been another busy and unusual week for year 6. &nbsp;Our musical production has been an amazing success and a fitting end to primary school life. &nbsp;Many members of the class have been visiting their secondary school with a mixture of nerves and excitement but mainly excitement. &nbsp;we also got our SATs results this week and Mr Copley is one very proud teacher.</p>

<p>Next week, will be our last at primary school with a mixture or fun activities involving art, preparation for leavers&#39; assembly and then a sad farewell on the last day. &nbsp;Well done leavers of 2024. &nbsp;You&#39;ve been amazing and Keyingham really hopes you pop in to see us again to let us know how you&#39;re getting on.</p>

	<link>https://www.keyinghamprimaryschool.co.uk/blog/?pid=100&amp;nid=11&amp;storyid=758</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p style="margin-left:0cm; margin-right:0cm">This week has been unusual for year 6 as some of our pupils have been visiting their secondary school. They all had a good time and are looking forward to the next stage of their school journey. Children who have been with us this week have written a wonderful balanced argument about the meaning of life according to different faiths, they have investigated rivers, explored space and produced some interesting photography in their artwork.<br />
Next week will be a busy one again with our school play rehearsals and performance as well as the other children in the class visiting their secondary school. It&rsquo;s looking like a very busy, full and enjoyable end to our time at Keyingham.</p>

Can I improve my speech in drama by learning my lines? What is it like to be an astronaut and live in space? What skills do I need to learn how to play a number of new sports? Can I improve the melody of my hip hop track? Can I design and make a mechanism that can lift a toy car?</p>

	<link>https://www.keyinghamprimaryschool.co.uk/blog/?pid=100&amp;nid=11&amp;storyid=746</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p>This week, the children have been completing their narrative work on a modern day retelling of MacBeth.&nbsp; We have looked at climate across the world in greater depth.&nbsp; Our history work on Power, Empire and Democracy has started by looking at the space race in the context of the Cold War.&nbsp; Religion and world views have continued to ask that big questions of what is the purpose of life according to different viewpoints?&nbsp; The children have also continued to develop their artistic drawing skills and programming those new micro:bits.</p>

Next week, all of our work on the climate in Geography will continue with us considering how we are the guardians of this world. &nbsp;Our understanding of the cold war and the space race will also continue. &nbsp;More big questions will be asked about the meaning of life according to Judaism. &nbsp;Our science will continue to look at chemistry and what happens when chemical reactions occur. &nbsp;We&#39;re also looking forward to finally getting a bit of summer sunshine, enjoying PE outside and refining our performance for the school play.</p>

	<link>https://www.keyinghamprimaryschool.co.uk/blog/?pid=100&amp;nid=11&amp;storyid=733</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:center">This week the children have been starting secondary ready preparations with a timetable of lessons more similar to what they will experience next year.&nbsp; They have been investigating separating mixtures back in to their component parts, looking at climate zones around the world, asking big questions about the meaning of life according to Hinduism, writing a story using MacBeth as a stimulus, converting measures, drawing graphs and considering the treatment of the Windrush generation in post war Britain (It&rsquo;s been a busy week).</p>

In maths we have looked at a variety of skills relating to data.RE has focussed on beliefs of life after death in the context of Islam.&nbsp; In science, we have explored all the different ways that we can keep ourselves healthy.&nbsp; In music we have been composing.&nbsp; We looked at grime and then explored other styles as well.</p>

<p>Next week, we will be doing our SATs tests.&nbsp; We have worked incredibly hard all year and are excited to both show off everything we have learned and also to get them done.&nbsp; We will be having a SATs breakfast every morning to fuel us up for the day (children wishing to have something will need to be here when the gates open at 8:30). We are looking forward to the next dance session for our musical production and also to making full use of our school field now it has finally dried out enough to play on.&nbsp; Bring on the summer.</p>

<p>Next week, we will be studying co-ordinates in maths and writing some more of our narrative.&nbsp; In History we will be asking what made the British Empire decline, continuing with our performance and again looking at the functions of the human body (specifically the heart and the circulatory system).</p>

<p>The spelling pattern for next is the sound &lsquo;s&rsquo; and will include words like restaurant, necessary, secretary, specific, harass and incision.</p>

<p>Children are free to work on whichever graduate award takes their interest.</p>

After the Easter holidays, the children in year 6 will be preparing for their SATs. &nbsp;They&rsquo;ve worked incredibly hard this term and showing great progress in their studies. &nbsp;They should be very proud of themselves. &nbsp;After Easter, year 6 will be studying a variety of subjects such as they will be looking at the functions of the human body and also chemical reactions. &nbsp;They will look at digital photography, French, RE and variety of others as well as getting ready for secondary school. &nbsp;Have a well deserved break and I&rsquo;ll see you in the summer term.<br />

	<link>https://www.keyinghamprimaryschool.co.uk/blog/?pid=100&amp;nid=11&amp;storyid=614</link>	<description><![CDATA[<p>Over the course of this term, Year 6 have really given it their all and launched themselves headfirst into all their learning. We have written biographies, instructions and character descriptions, learnt about and constructed electrical circuits in Science. We became street food chefs in DT, prepping, cooking and eating Samosas, pan frying pitta bread to eat with hummus and making a delicious taco. We have created an art installation highlighting the impact of pollution and learnt how to ask someone how they are in French, as well as how to order a number of different vegetables. The children have enjoyed learning all about fractions, decimals and place value this term and can&rsquo;t wat to put it to use, divvying out their chocolate coins!</p>

<p>When asked, it won&rsquo;t come as a surprise, that the children&rsquo;s favourite memories this term are dominated by their trip to Peat Rigg where abseiling, stream walking and rock climbing were all tried - some more successfully than others. One child said, &ldquo;The stream walking was fun, but freezing!&rdquo;</p>

<p>As thoughts turn to the Christmas break, Lie-ins seem to be one of the things people are most excited about, as well as opening presents and spending time with the people that mean the most to them.</p>

<p>Next term they are looking forward to more Maths, more DT and continuing to use the tools in forest school.</p>

<p>Our spelling rule next week is the sound &lsquo;oe&rsquo; which includes spellings such as: donate, component, notice, groan, evolution, prohibited, tomatoes.</p>
