This week in Year 5, we have shown kindness by complimenting everyone’s outfits when we dressed up for World Book Day. We have also had an example of individual kindness when a member of our class gave up their seat for another child’s relative on the reading afternoon.

This week in Year 5, we have shown courage by having a go at a ‘Cold Write’ challenge set by Mr Hebb. We had to show courage because we did not get any planning time or help, it was an opportunity to show what we could do in our writing completely unaided.

This week in Year 5, we have shown curiosity by taking part in our first Computing lesson on Databases and using the different search functions to find different aliens depending on their features. We learnt new vocabulary such as: Database, Record and Field.

Next week, we will be starting our writing based on a familiar children’s story being told from a different point of view. In Reading, we will be going back to a classic ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ and in Maths we will be finishing our unit on Multiplication and Division and completing an assessment. In our afternoons, we will be continuing our work in History exploring Georgian Britain, looking at the differences between the stages of the human life cycle and creating our own class database in Computing.
