In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of multiplying and dividing decimals, focusing on accuracy and applying our skills to real-life contexts. We have also been introduced to negative numbers, exploring how they are used in everyday situations such as temperatures, bank balances, lifts and sea levels.
With just three weeks to go, our Tempest rehearsals are progressing really well. The children are showing great dedication as they work hard to learn their lines and bring the characters to life on stage.
In English, we have been reading the myth Theseus and the Minotaur. We've been exploring the character of Theseus in detail—examining his strengths, motivations, and the challenges he faces during his journey. This has sparked some fantastic discussions and thoughtful writing.
In Science, we had a truly exciting experience—our very own in-school planetarium visit! We explored the possibilities of alien life across the universe and learned about the conditions needed to support life on other planets. The session ended with an engaging Q&A, where the children got to ask a space expert all their burning questions about the cosmos.
In Geography, we’ve been learning about different biomes and vegetation belts, discovering how climate and geography influence the types of plants and animals that thrive in various parts of the world.
In P.E., our dance rehearsals for the upcoming Annie production are in full swing, with children showing great rhythm and creativity. We were also fortunate to take part in a special rugby training session delivered by Holderness Vikings, which was both fun and skill-building.
Looking ahead to next week, we’ll be exploring some exciting new questions across our subjects:
·       How are religious views expressed through art?
·       How do I compare and order negative numbers?
·       What are orbits in our solar system, and how do they work?
·       What is global warming, and what impact is it having on our planet?
We’re looking forward to another week of curiosity, creativity, and learning!
