This week, we went to Magna. We had a chance to explore the different pavilions: air, water and fire. The water pavilion had pools of water and water shooters. We also could weigh how much water was in our bodies and we learned about waterpower, using a piece of equipment which you had to turn to generate the power and get the water toys to move. There was a true or false game, which involved filling up containers with water when you got the right answer. The air pavilion was inside a big blimp that was high up near the ceiling. We learned how the blimps were used. In the fire pavilion, we saw a fire tornado and we played video games to help put out fires in a forest. We took part in a volcano and rock workshop. We made volcanos using baking soda and vinegar. We mixed the solution with a spoon to make the ‘lava’ erupt. We had to draw how far the lava spread and used playdough to represent the igneous rock when the lava ‘cools down’. Lastly, we played a game where we had to guess where we would have to evacuate if we lived near our volcano. If we put our name in the evacuation zone we won. We also watched a show called, ‘The Big Melt’. There was fire and sparks, and we learned how it shut down in 1977.

After half term, we will be asking, “How is the Earth structured?”, “What do plants need to grow?” and making a fruity yogurt recipe in DT.

Our spelling rule after half term is “p‘’ sounding words: pedal, pedestrian, compel, expel, repel, pentathlon, popular, support, supply, appearance, unpopular, portable

Our PE days are Tuesday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor)
