This week in year 1, we have been reading Winnie’s Big Catch by Laura Owen and Korky Paul.

This week in Year 1 we have been learning to spell words with the oo grapheme and some of us have used adjectives and commas in our recount writing. In maths, some of us have learnt how to use a trundle wheel to measure the playground and all of us have been finding and using number bonds within 20. In Forest School, we have learnt how to make a bird feeder and why we need to help the birds in winter. On our walk around the village, we used compasses to find the directions we would travel to the church and the clues we could learn from some road names.

Next week in Year 1 we will be asking: What are everyday materials used for? Please bring in examples of different materials (plastic, wood, cardboard, fabric etc).
