This week we've started to learn about decimals in maths; we've talked about tenths and hundredths. We know that our money and measuring systems are based on decimals (they use the ten times table).  In literacy, we started to read The Iron Man and we've described him in our writing (using similes, expanded noun phrases and with interesting word choices) and answered questions on the text in reading sessions. We tried to improve sentences by 'dropping in' clauses and by using words from the week's spelling list of 'statutory' Y4 words. Our themed work was based on the question 'What's the difference between a village and a city?' and we are now experts on different types of settlement.  Next week will have a historical slant when we ask, 'What was Hull like in Tudor times?'
